Dave 2 Dave Grulke, Congregation Council President

Neighborhood or city where I live:
Near 92nd St & Schlinger (about half way between the church and the zoo in West Allis)

Occupation/Career History:
Founder & CEO of Big Dave’s Services (Est. 2002), a residential remodeling firm specializing in kitchen and bathroom projects. Former board member and Executive Director of the Cabinet Makers Association (8 years), and about 30 years in various sales and management positions in advertising, publishing and commercial insurance.

Past or current FLC committee and/or council service:
Most recently as council member, with about 15 years as council’s financial secretary in the 1980s-2000s, stewardship committee and past president in the 80’s.

How and/or when I joined FLC:
We moved to the area with a job transfer from Iowa and bought a duplex about 3 blocks from church. After visiting a number of different protestant churches in the area, we returned to and joined FLC in the early 1980s. The main reason was the friendly people and hearty “glad to see you” handshakes, particularly from a special member.

Family info:
Married Linda in 1973, 3 children Elizabeth (suburban Madison, WI), Laurel and Matthew (West Allis), 2 grandchildren in suburban Madison.

Hobbies, Interests etc.:
I joke that my favorite hobby is making frequent bank deposits for my business, but when there is time, I enjoy traveling, fishing and spending time spoiling our grandchildren.

Mari 1 Odemaris (Mari) Dixon, Congregation Council Secretary

Neighborhood or city where I live:
62nd & Beloit Rd (not so far from the church.)

Occupation/Career History:
I have two jobs that I love. I’m a laboratory technician and also a medical assistant. I love taking care of my patients.

Past or current FLC committee and/or council service:
Most recently council member & I am a part of the evangelism committee.

How and/or when I joined FLC:
A few years ago, my husband and I were looking to renew our vows. After visiting a few churches around the area and talking to different pastors, none of them made our family feel welcome. I received a phone call from Pastor Peterson and we talked on the phone for 20 minutes. He invited me to come to church on a Sunday morning. My husband and I and our children felt welcome since then. This wonderful church has become our second home.

Family info:
Married John in 2006, 6 children Stephanie 20 that had our first grand baby Junior 1 year old, Stephen 17 years old, Christina 14 years old, Dominick 13 years old (lives in Minnesota) , Lorenzo 9 years old, Isabella 6 years old. And we can’t forget our 1 1/2 year old Great Dane, Crusoe.

Hobbies, Interests etc.:
I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, tasting different foods. I also enjoy helping others. Every Thanksgiving, my husband and I and the kids wake up early and we cook thanksgiving dinner for the homeless and families that are in need. We deliver the dinners to their homes or motels around the area.

Various sales and marketing positions since 1972, Realtor since 2005

Past or current FLC committee and/or council service:
Two previous terms on FLC Council, including two as President. Currently serving as Chairman, Social Ministry Committee.

How and/or when I joined FLC:
My parents and siblings were members in the early 1950’s at the previous location on So. 73rd Street.

Family info:
Jean and I have been married since 1968, blessed with four daughters and eight grandchildren, all of whom live in warmer climates.

Hobbies, Interests etc.:
Travel, especially to visit family, reading and fishing.

Retired RN. Worked mostly at St. Luke’s Hospital

Served on Council three terms at Nativity Lutheran Church. Volunteer at Food Pantry and Vacation Bible School at FLC.
How and/or when I joined FLC:
Joined FLC about one year ago after attending Saturday evening worship for 5-6 years

Husband Gary (homebound) and two miniature Dachshunds

Reading, TV movies and luncheons with other retired nurse friends.
